Said described Mr. Mahfouz as a pivotal figure in the Lebanese media landscape, emphasizing that any attempt to abolish or weaken the Council would contradict Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees the fundamental right to freedom of opinion and expression.
‎
‎He noted that these principles had been thoroughly discussed during his several meetings with Mr. Mahfouz, most recently in their latest encounter, where both parties underscored the importance of maintaining balance and accountability within the Lebanese media environment.
‎
‎Dr. Bou Said concluded by highlighting that Mr. Mahfouz’s moderate and inclusive approach embodies the spirit of free and responsible media, which
