الدكتور هيثم بو سعيد يؤكد رفض المساس بالمجلس الوطني للإعلام المرئي والمسموع ويدعو إلى صون حرية التعبير في لبنان
Dr. Haissam Bou Said Affirms Rejection of Any Undermining of the National Audiovisual Council and Calls for the Protection of Freedom of Expression in Lebanon
رأى الممثل الأعلى للشؤون الخارجية للمجلس الدولي لحقوق الإنسان المعتمد لدى الأمم المتحدة بصفة خاصة لدى المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي (إيكوسوك) والمدير العام لوكالة الأنباء الدولية لحقوق الإنسان، الدكتور هيثم بو سعيد، أنه لا يجوز المساس بالمجلس الوطني للإعلام المرئي والمسموع برئاسة الأستاذ عبدالهادي محفوظ، خصوصًا في ما يتعلق بقضية الإعلام الإلكتروني الذي بات يشكل ركيزة أساسية من ركائز حرية التعبير والتواصل في لبنان والمنطقة.
وأكد الدكتور بو سعيد أن الأستاذ عبدالهادي محفوظ يمثل “الرقم الصعب” في المشهد الإعلامي اللبناني، وأن أي محاولة لإضعاف أو إلغاء دور المجلس الوطني تُعدّ مخالفة صريحة للمادة (19) من الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان، التي منحت الحق في حرية الرأي والتعبير مرتبة أساسية ضمن منظومة الحقوق والحريات العامة.
وأشار إلى أن هذه المبادئ كانت محور نقاشات متعددة أجراها مع الأستاذ محفوظ، وخصوصًا في اللقاء الأخير، حيث تبيّن مدى حرص المجلس الوطني على توازن المشهد الإعلامي اللبناني وحماية حق الجمهور في الاطلاع والتعبير بحرية ومسؤولية.
وختم الدكتور بو سعيد مؤكدًا أن شخصية الأستاذ محفوظ المعتدلة والمنفتحة تمثل نموذجًا لما يجب أن يكون عليه الإعلام اللبناني الحر والمستقل، وأن الحفاظ على المؤسسات الإعلامية الوطنية هو حماية لجوهر الديمقراطية والتعددية في لبنان.
The High Representative for External Affairs of the International Human Rights Council , accredited to the United Nations (ECOSOC) and Director-General of the International Human Rights News Agency, Dr. Haitham Bou Said, stressed the importance of preserving the National Audiovisual Council of Lebanon under the leadership of Mr. Abdel Hadi Mahfouz, particularly regarding issues related to electronic media and freedom of expression.
Dr. Bou Said described Mr. Mahfouz as a pivotal figure in the Lebanese media landscape, emphasizing that any attempt to abolish or weaken the Council would contradict Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees the fundamental right to freedom of opinion and expression.
He noted that these principles had been thoroughly discussed during his several meetings with Mr. Mahfouz, most recently in their latest encounter, where both parties underscored the importance of maintaining balance and accountability within the Lebanese media environment.
Dr. Bou Said concluded by highlighting that Mr. Mahfouz’s moderate and inclusive approach embodies the spirit of free and responsible media, which Lebanon has long been known for. Preserving national media institutions, he added, is essential to safeguarding democracy and pluralism in the country.
